Have you ever wondered if it was feasible to Unlock StarTimes and GoTV Decoders, or any other digital decoder/digital tv, in order to watch all premium and DStv channels for free? We always get the message in our subscriptions that some channels have the small padlock or premium feature and you can't watch them. We all wish we could access those channels that need payment because not everyone can afford the substantial monthly fees required for these networks.

The free-to-air channels are simply not worth your time. Fortunately for you, there is a method to view these premium channels for free on your current Gotv, Startimes, or any other digital decoder or digital tv. The key to accomplishing this is hidden, well, not really hidden, in the DTB firmware.

DTB Firmware For Decoders

DTB firmware allows you to access premium channels on your decoder, and some of these channels are also available on DSTV. It's similar to putting fresh software on your decoder so your original service provider doesn't find you stealing. Install the DTB firmware on your computer or smartphone. Extract the zip folder, then copy the.bin file to your flash disk or memory card. It will just be a few megabytes in size, thus even a modest capacity storage stick will suffice. DTB Firmware can be downloaded HERE

Requirements to Flash the DTB firmware on your Decoder

There are a few prerequisites for flashing the firmware on your decoder. Your decoder must include a USB port or a memory card slot. The DTB firmware obtained above, a little remote control skills, and you're ready to go premium on your decoder for free.

Unlock Digital TVs and Decoders

Unlock StarTimes and GoTV Decoders by following this process. With the memory stick or flash drive in the decoder and the decoder turned on, take the remote and navigate to the settings. Navigate to the upgrade area and select the USB option. Confirm that you really wish to update from the USB storage. The upgrade procedure will be initiated. It will be finished in a few minutes. If you're concerned about the new upgrade, remember that you may reset the decoder to factory settings whenever you want to keep paying.

Please keep in mind that some users have experienced a 'no match file' problem on various decorders. Here's how to repair it. Unzip the downloaded DTB firmware ZIP package and only copy the.bin file in the folder into the flash drive you want to use. Another solution, as suggested by one of the users,

"It was only a remote control technique that I missed at first... When I attempted to upgrade from USB storage, I chose the.bin file that I downloaded (3.1mb), then hit OK to begin the upgrade, but an error message would appear... Instead of pressing 'ok' on the selected.bin file, there was an instruction at the bottom of my screen to press a key to download from the.bin; when I did that, another separate file was created and automatically saved on my usb called 'flashfile.bin'(8.1mb), which is the one I used to successfully upgrade."

Completing the Upgrade of Your Decoder

When the decoder alerts you that the upgrade is complete, turn it off and then back on. After that, run an automatic channel scan. You'll note that you're not barred from watching any channels. You've just saved a lot of money on monthly charges for premium channels on your GoTv, Startimes, and other digital decoders. This strategy may also provide access to premium channels on digital television.

This method previously required the use of a whole new decoder, but it is now the most basic. Proceed with caution as this article is only for educational purposes. Remember that you can still reset your TV or decoder to its factory settings. If you have any issues or need further clarification, please visit our forum.
